Hi all,
Does anyone’s school offer the NC Electronic engineering course? My school is thinking of bringing it back. They previously ran it but discontinued it. The teacher who taught it did warn me that it created significant additional workload on the technicians. I was wondering if anyone had experience supporting this course and how horrendous is the prep required?

Techfleece Is this the same as the National 5 Practical Electronics course?

I don’t think they have finalised what level it will be at. I think they have ran the level 5 and 6 course in the past.

Techfleece we launched it here last year and it’s running again this year coming. It is quite labour intensive on our part and very expensive to set up with a potential high annual rolling cost depending on it’s popularity. We had 6 last year and have 14 this year (this will no doubt reduce though).
It’s quite tricky for the pupils but those who have the skills enjoy it.

Thanks. I am quite new to the school and wasn’t here when it was last ran. I just don’t think they consider technician time when they bring these courses on.

Techfleece Quite often your time is the last thing they think about. Make sure you mention how much you’ll need to prepare each lesson and for maintenance. I find a lot of my time is spent fixing things because we don’t have a lot of equipment.
