Dear all, sorry for my radio silence. I’m still trying to sort out my chaotic life. You’ve all been on my mind so much, but I’ve just not got around to putting down on paper.
There appears to be a lot of interest in support for Technicians so the IOP are keen to work with you on this.
Obviously times and needs vary but I feel like a monthly drop in might be the answer, with video support on the set up between those times. From the people who asked Thursday 11am-12pm seems a good time. I plan to instigate this not to come up with all the ideas. As the October holidays are upon us, shall we set the first meeting for 31st October 2024 (Halloween costumes optional). I will set up the link over the next 2 weeks and send it out.
One of the problems I have is currently accessing equipment. I’m hoping to get to the Bridge in Dumfries (meaningless to those outside D&G) and work with Ghislaine Duncan, but she’s run off to NZ.
As a starter, to find out if this is any use, I’ve looked out two of the IOP recorded sessions, links below. I’ve started the first link at 4mins 36 s in so that you don’t get the blurb stuff for your Physics teachers. I really need to know if this is helpful. If it is, I will sort through some other videos . The woman who blurts in at the end of the Boyle’s Law says “go slowly” what she means is don’t pump up the pressure with the pump too quickly as this will "knock the particles, giving them extra kinetic energy and the temperature of the air will increase. This practical is for constant temperature and mass of gas.
